CODE PHASE 1

Community Overdose Engagement (CODE) Phase 1

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is awarding grants up to $5,000 to Rhode Island municipalities for the development of comprehensive overdose response plans that address the local opioid crisis.  These overdose response plans must align with the State's Overdose Prevention Action Plan to promote overdose prevention, rescue, treatment, and recovery.

Only one application will be accepted per municipality; therefore, RIDOH encourages strong collaboration among municipal leadership to determine a single agency responsible for the application submission and funding management.

Funding requirements and timeline:

  • December 31, 2018 - Submit a Letter of Intent

  • April 30, 2019 at 5 p.m. - Submit first draft of a municipal overdose response plan

  • May 15, 2019 at 5 p.m. -  Municipalities will receive constructive feedback from RIDOH regarding the draft overdose response plan.

  • May 31, 2019 at 5 p.m. – Municipalities will submit a finalized overdose response plan that reflects RIDOH feedback.
